The classic Border Collie is a relatively new dog, only passing AKC certification in 1995. Used for years as a sheepdog in central Britain, then discovered by Queen Victoria, the Border Collie's popularity exploded. The Border Collie is the number 1 trainable dog available, which is why the Border Collie is so prevalent in all of the various sport dog competitions.
