The Jack Russell Terrier is a very popular small dog with tons of energy and a joy to play with. Developed for a variety of hunting tasks in Britain over 100 years ago, the Jack Russell Terrier breed had a wide variety of traits that were constantly changing. To counteract this dilemma and to standardize the breed, the Jack Russell Terrier breed was split in two, creating the new Parsons Russell Terrier as the show dog, and the working non-show dogs retaining the original Jack Russell Terrier name. Regardless of their name, either variation will make a great family pet.
