The Rottweiler is one of the quintessential protection and security dogs available. Having served protection and attack duties for the Roman Army, the Rottweiler has been in service for over 2000 years. The Rottweiler nearly went extinct prior to the 1900's, but was saved from the brink and was standardized in the beginning of the 1900's into the magnificent breed we know today. Although frequently misconstrued, the Rottweiler is a very laid-back and mellow family pet, and will get along with your children and your family friends nicely.
