Siberian Husky: Index
The Siberian Husky was used for thousands of years in the far reaches of Siberia to assist with hunting and the transportation of people and goods. They are originally a sled dog and like to continue to interact with their pack (this time the pack is your family). The Siberian Husky is frequently mistaken for the Alaskan Malamute, and though them seem very similar, the Siberian Husky is a smaller dog. After being introduced to Alaska in the 1900's, and with interbreeding between the Siberian Husky and the Alaskan Malamute coupled with a lack of knowledge and improper documentation, it is now possible to have a Siberian Husky larger than a Malamute or a Malamute that is smaller than a Siberian Husky.
